Have any of you tried Clover's BlackGold Needles for piecing? I, also, use them for applique. They are pricey but, oh my gosh, are they sharp and go through fabric so easily. If interested I bought mine here:

They are $5.60 for 6 but they last a long, long time (if you don't lose them ) because they just don't bend or get dull. You may want to check them out.

I have not tried the Black Gold for piecing, but did buy the Black Gold quilting betweens and did not like them at all. I really like Clover Gold Eye Betweens and the Gold Eye Applique, but the Black Gold betweens seemed much thicker and more difficult to slide though the fabric than the Gold Eye, which is totally contrary to their advertisement.

I won't use them. they are expensive, and the ones I used broke too easily. I am not hard on needles either, but as I was using it, it snapped. won't do that one again.

For needle turn appliqué I like to use very fine milliners needles, I like the longer length with my old hands, easier to hold on to.

Found some needles at a garage sale last year that are heavenly. They are super fine like a beading needle, super super fine and about 3 inches long. Took a few minutes to adjust to them but once I did I was very pleased with them. They came in a test tube like Roxanns needles, but there was no label. Have about 15 of them and want them to last a long time since I cant buy more.

I use flexible straw needles for applique and bindings from Foxglove Cottage. All the quilt stores around here carry them but I see Amazon does too

Thanks for your responses. Have not used the ones some of you mentioned but next time I need needles I will try them. Think the ones mentioned that came in a tube are from England maybe. We used to have the coolest shop that handled quilting and cross stitch fabric, threads and patterns that were truly unique and it seems to me I purchased needles in a tube there but can't remember the brand.

Hmmm. I'm always willing to try new needles...have been using the clover gold eyes for a while. i tried milliners but they bent way too easily. I am also interested in trying the Roxanne's, have heard good things about them.
