I work at a quilt shop where we go through lots of cutting mats, the large ones. After several months, the cutting lines we used all the time are so badly worn we can not use them. I am looking for ideas on ways to re-purpose them. It seems a shame to throw them away. Any ideas from you clever gals/guys?

You can cut them to fit INSIDE the bottom of purses or tote bags that you make. Maybe even offer to cut them up for people on the board as a PIF. :)

There are lots of us that make bags that would be willing to pay shipping for them ;)

My DH made me a small lap board for hand work and glued a piece of an old mat to it. Works like a charm. Now I just need a small lap. lol

Cut into smaller mats .... I keep one that's only about 5x7" right at my sewing machine for wee trimmings. Larger things I get up and cut it at my cutting table.

You could cut them up and use them for the inside of quilted e-reader cases. I've been trying to figure out a workable material to use for a quilted case for my Kindle...I think that would do it!
