I bought the 1/4" foot for my machine and use it a lot. But while putting together a "Biscuit" quilt, found the width of the foot got in the way because of the 'puff'. Well, I pulled out my zipper foot, the one where you can adjust it to one side or the other ... guess what? It's exactly 1/4" wide. BTW if I had EVER put in a zipper since 196??? I probably would have known this.

Thanks for the tip - I use my zipper foot frequently - recently replaced zipper in husband's jacket. Reversible zipper and, of course, I put it in like a ladies jacket! He'll live with it. A very patient man is he.

I will give it try some time. I love my 1/4 inch foot and use it alot for top-stitching on the edge of things.

I have 2 1/4" feet that I use. On one of them I took off the guide that seemed to no like going on top of fabric. So one has the guide and the other doesn't.
