Default Recycling wool from clothing for wool applique

I have some blazers that I picked up for a fair price. I plan to use them for wool applique. I took them apart last night and I found that they have some kind of fusible interfacing on the sides. I tried to peel it off but it won't come off. What can these pieces be used for? I'm guessing that they won't felt but I hate to through them out. They are pretty big pieces.

One thought that I had was I could use them as a backing for small pieces or penny rugs. Anyone else have any ideas?

Why not throw a piece in to felt? The interfacing may create an interesting texture, you never know. Might end up kind of like the texture magic? If they can't be felted, maybe they could be sewn into Christmas ornaments or stockings. Maybe some house slipper with flannel inside. How about draft door stoppers? Remember those sewn to look like long wiener dogs that you laid at the back door to keep out the cold? (before weather striping)
