resizing a block
#1
So I am planning my quilt for my fall exchange blocks and one of the borders I want to do is using the Quilter's Cache Maple Leaf pattern. I want to make them into 6" blocks rather than the 12" do I divide all the measurements in half or only the main numbers? For example, it calls for two 4 and a half inch squares. Do I make 2 and a half inch squares or 2 and a quarter? Thanks!

Your square blocks would be 2 1/2"
The strip for the 1/2 sq triangles would be 2 7/8" X 4 3/4"
The stem strip you will have to adjust, Maybe try a 1 inch strip with the 2 1/2" block cut in half.

Quilters cache has a 6 inch leaf block called Border Maple.

I saw the border maples too but I like the look of the regular maples and I want to alternate them with a solid block so they will look like the are floating to the ground.
Thank you Amma, that is what I thought too but figured itdoesn't hurt to ask! Math is not my strong suit!
