On Fons and Proter today a MN quilter makes templates.
She glued her paper template to the old mat and cut the template out. I thought it was clever.

These are clever ideas. I didn't even watch Fons and Porter today. I love DVR I'll watch it later. Thanks.

Hi everybody, I too ended up with warped cutting mats when we moved 7 years ago. But someone told me to lay it outside on my driveway when the sun was out. Sure enough, it heated up and was flat again. Then, I took it inside and put it on my cutting table and left it over night. Next day, I could put it away "properly". This saved all my cutting mats. You might try it and see if it works for you.

pvquilter, We got some junk mail that had some info for Macular Degeneration and it was on an 8 x 11 piece of plastic. I cut it up to make a bottom for my new purse I made. A week later my husband was looking for that information...OOOPS! I had to order him another one online! My bad.

Old mats are great for putting under your quilt tops and using basting gun to baste.
