By ribbon, I thought you meant store bought ribbon. I have seen ribbon like that used in a quilt. Looks great.
I would think to make narrow ribbon sashing you would use a wider ribbon , mark the stitch lines etc. BUT do not cut the ribbon along the sides of the ribbon. It will fray terribly - ask me how I know this :oops:

I can't find the pattern again lol, I thought I had it bookmarked but I didn't In the process of going thru my history files which might take a while.
The ribbon looked like it was tiny squares bordering some of the blocks, had never seen that done before thats why I brought up the question.
I'll keep looking.........

Ribbon is made from fabric strips. There are many kinds on the market. For quilting I think Double face satin (tightly woven but frays on cut edges), grosgrain ribbon, & cotton could be sewn into the quilt the same as fabric. Nylon & silk and other kinds of ribbon can be used as embelshments.
