Welcome to the Quilting Board!

Anyone ever heard of these machines? I grew up on a Singer. Spoke with young lady selling them both $30 each.
I taught quilting at a local sew & vac shop for a while around 2000. He sold the Riccar sewing machine. There were very sturdy & reliable. This is the machine I sold when someone was new to sewing & did not want to invest in the more expensive computerized machines. You ould the generic walking foot to the Riccar. Of course, this was 10 yrs. ago. I don't know how old the machine is that you are considering.
I have an old Riccar. It is the machine I learned to sew on about 40 years ago. I made garmets and home dec on it and now it is my workhorse for piecing. The only thing I've ever replaced is a easy to find belt. It gets regularly oiled, but I have never taken it for service. I have not used it for FMQ.
I have the bicor 1005 and love it! It was given to me for my babyshower for my first daughter what do you need to knwo about it??
The Riccar belonged to her grandmother who is now deceased. She said its about 40yrs old and the Bicor belonged to her. She also had a Babylock Serger for $30. She lives in Columbus where my daughter goes to school so I had my daughter to go ahead and buy the Serger. I figured I could not go wrong with a Babylock Serger. I told her I would get back with her about the Riccar. I mainly wanted it because it is in a nice cabinet.
