The black and white is fine, it makes the batiks pop. Looks like it will be a beautiful quilt.

I agree - don't ditch the black and white.

The black and white are spectacular in that pattern. I would keep them.

I agree, looks good to me! If you want to change the fabric there's no harm in doing so but the pattern looks nice as is.

The colors you picked are perfect! The black & white make a great background for the batiks.

I also vote for keeping the black and white. They really make the other colors pop!

I like MaryKatherine ideas--the black/white is so bold that I find myself focusing on that and not those awesome batiks!

My preference would be to tone down the white. Black works very well. I would also outline quilt each shape. I realize this would take more time. To me, meandering anywhere takes away from the geometric patchwork.

after you sew a few of the color strip blocks together, you may want to take them to the quilt store and "audition" some other choices. You may want to consider batiks instead of kona solids.

The white and black will be awesome... but your black has a lot of white in it. I think I'd go for a more tonal black, keeping the black and white separate, like it is in the illustration.

Hope you show us this quilt when you get it together!
