Question What thread do you use for hand embroidery?

I just finished redwork blocks for a quilt and used Finca #12, it has a slight sheen and very easy to use. Now I am using DMC Cotton Perle #8. I found the Finca did not knot as easily and tangle as the dmc. What thread do you like to use in embroidery? I have another quilt top I would like to do, in dark brown thread, any suggestions. I am tempted to order the Finca as it was good to work with. Thanks.

I use Finca as well - I think their perle cotton is better then DMC - I tend to use the #12 as well - it is very thin and looks lovely with the slight sheen. #8 is a little to thick for me - I buy it on line at BagLady - she sells the whole line in all sizes and has a sample card of the colors for $20.

Thanks Petey, I think the difference I feel is the DMC feels rough and the Finca is smooth. Will look up that website. Actually have two separate projects in mind and I could order both sets of colors at once.
