Row by Row - Great idea for souvenir!

Are you doing Row by Row on your vacation?

I've purchased a few row by row license plates near where I live, but it wasn't until I was on vacation that I really "got it". I looked up the participating shops and found one in almost every town I was visiting in Alaska. The kits are great. The shops have done a great job of capturing their local attractions.

I like visiting LQS in new places and this gives me such a great item to purchase since I'm not good at just purchasing fabric with no pattern in mind. It also gave me a bonified reason I had to go to them.

Who ever thought of this was genius!

I agree it is a lot of fun! We took some really long detours off the main highway this summer to get ones that I really liked.

It is another way of getting quilters into quilt stores. Just a different twist on shop hops.

In the past, shop hops have always charged for their block pattern in Canada...not sure what happened in the US. This time a 9 x 36" finished row pattern was shared free of charge if you didn't choose to purchase the fabric kit. I think this marketing decision was super as I would never have considered driving 380+ kms up to and then back off the main highway if there was not a featured row to view and collect. I hope that the master minds of this years Row by Row come up with another great theme for next year! And yes.... I did purchase fabric...some only a FQ at each shop....but it was a fun addition to our road trip..... detour here...and there....

Chasing the Row By Row patterns helped me discover quilt stores I didn't know existed! I now have a lot of patterns and I think they make great small projects. Love this idea too!!
