Love Omnigrid! I have the nonslip film on the backs of some of them. I like the fact that they have black lines (visible on light fabrics) and yellow lines (visible on dark fabrics) on them.

I don't like the rulers with ridges on the back that prevent you from sliding the ruler without disarranging the fabrics on your mat. The film on the back of the Omnigrid doesn't stick until you have the ruler in place and press down on the ruler.

I use my 12 1/2" square most, but I have been enjoying my 3" x 18" ruler lately. I have a lot of rulers!!

I'm not crazy about the other long rulers with the 1/2" added, like the new 6 1/2" x 24" ruler from Omnigrid, because I like to be able to measure from either edge without doing complicated math.

I started with the 5" Olipfa, 20 years ago!

I have about 3 dozen rulers and my favorites are the Omnigrip and Omnigrid (I add the non-slip film that Cathe mentioned).

I think the rulers I use the most are 6"x24", 4"x14", 12 1/2" square and 6 1/2" square. I also love my fussy cut rulers.

The small square rulers (2 1/2 square and 3 1/2 square), I use very seldom, because they slip very easily.

I'll also add that you don't need a lot of rulers to be a good quilter. I just can't resist them.

The ruler I use the most is an omnigrid that is shaped like a trapezoid...square corners on one end and 45/135 angles on the other end. I think it is 5" wide and about 12.5" inches long. I'm kindof short and for some reason the longer rulers are harder for me to control. I also have a set of squares...12.5, 9.5, 6.5, 4.5, and 3.5. I work a lot with half square triangles and these help me square them up a little bit. And I use a 1 x 6 and a 1x 12 when I'm cleaning up edges and cutting diagonals.

I'm interested in more info on the "non-slip" film. I have several of the yellow omnigrid I could use that on. Thanks for the info - I'll check at JoAnn's the next time I am in there.

It's called Invisigrip and is made by Omnigrid. There is also one called ClearGrip but I've never used it.

Thank you, Minda! I try and buy the green non-slip, however when I first started all I found/bought were the yellow. I am going to try this stuff: Invisigrip and is made by Omnigrid. Thanks again.

My favorite is the 5 by 24 lip edge too. By catching the lip on the edge of the mat, it ensures that the ruler is perfectly straight on your fabric and won't move.
