Default Ruler fold

I have seen fabric folded and stacked. I have just wondering how you get fabric from the middle of the stack without disturbing the rest of the stack.

I remove the stacks of fabric from the top of the fabric I want and then put them back. If I pull the fabric from a stack, it usually makes a sloppy stack I have to spend time straightening.

i slide my arm in above the piece i want, lifting it a little. i slide the desired piece out and the rest of the stack stays pretty well. if the desired piece is near the bottom, though, i usually pull out the stack and flip it over.

I have even used the ruler... worked it in, pulled out what I want... and yes, you usually do need to rearrange a bit, but I LOVE seeing all my lovely fabric choices!

I ruler fold, then store the fabric standing upright with no foam core. If it's packed in relatively closely, it stands up just fine. If it isn't packed closely enough, you need to buy more fabric.

I ruler fold but have limited fabrics so I just keep them in open boxes which makes it easier to retrieve.

My fabrics are ruler folded but not stacked on top of each other. My quilting fabrics are in drawers and "laid" in on edge, so that when you open the drawer, you can see all the fabrics and get whichever one you want, without disturbing the rest of the fabrics.

That is the way mine are done also -- I had a bunch of fabric stacked on each other -- ended up with a mess each time I wanted a fabric in the middle. Like it much better on edge in the drawer!
