I cut it along the design on the fabric but it was off...and the fabric was not cheap but the design was sure off. So guess it will now be a table cloth...lol I was disapointed as this quilt was going to be my project for practicing free motion quilting before I worked on a quilt top that was more special. Anyway, I bought the Flying geese rulers by Eleanor Burns to help me learn to make "good geese"...lol

I much prefer the Tucker Trimmer for flying geese. You can easily make any size, from pretty small to quite large, using it.

Corry- you can still practice your FM on it, so it's not a total waste of money.

I don't like the ones with the lip either. I think I gave mine away.

I am curious as to which triangle rulers some of you are talking about. Do you know the brand of the ones that you don't like?

BKrenning- I saw on a video recently that they have a 18x12" June Taylor shape cut, which I would love, but haven't found it in any fabric or quilt stores, which I guess is good because I really can't justify the expense. But I absolutely love my shape cut.

Fons and Porters flying geese ruler and triangle trimmers. Both a waste of money.
I love El Burns flying geese rulers the best.

Patrice--after placing ruler on the fabric-place your hand on the lower 1/3 of the ruler--rotarycut just 1/3 of the way up-- STOP-do not move the rotary cutter from the fabric- lift your hand from the ruler without moving anything except your hand then place it on the ruler in the middle- then continue cutting with the rotary cutter another third of the way. continue this process until you are all the way up to the top of the fabric.

I use my 8 1/2 x24 quite a bit and I use a gripper handle. I have those Zimmerman rulers that has never touched a piece of material,nor the dresden. June Taylor's shape I do use and like it.
