Because I am a beginner in quilting I still have simple questions…
I bought a few fabrics at the garage sale and wanted to prewash them. I used 3 sheets of shout color catcher and they came out blue. I washed it again and sheets of the catcher came out blue again.
What would you do in this situation? Would it make any difference if you wash a piece of running fabric 5 or 10 times? What would you do to be safe of the color staining your quilt?

Sometimes white vinegar in the rinse will help set the colors. Use about 4-5 cups for a full load.

Vinegar or salt will set colors. Try soaking fabric in either for a while, then rinse good.

Did you wash it in hot water and dry it on high heat? I find that when I wash new fabric in hot water the first time it usually bleeds. The second time it doesnt because the heat from the water and dryer sets the color. But I wouldnt quilt with it untill it stops bleeding.
