Default Saga of starting to FMQ or not

Soo.. I get up this morning with one thing on my mind. I am going to finally quilt MY bed quilt today. Go to get thread, hmmm out of the right color so off to Joanns,of course no sale and no coupon. The color that matches the back, small spools only, For the front, different dye lot. SIGH!! get new dye lot for front and back. Ok now to decide What I am going to quilt. Been thinking about it and designing different block patterns, trying to figure out how I am going to do stitch in the ditch in one line. THats not happening. Start cleaning things up from the swap I am working on and Smash my 4th toe on the leg of the ironing board. OUCH!!!!! It is swelling and it hurts when I try to walk on it. OK Suck it up.
Finally decided to do a vine pattern up the whole thing. Now I just need to draw it out and decide how to mark the quilt. I think I am going to use the stitch through the paper method. So I need to mark 6 lengths of paper. And that's ALL before I even wind a bobbin. LOL . Maybe tomorrow.
The quilt I am doing is the Garden Trellis .. you can just barely see where I have marked the paper , I also have a flower and a leaf in there to fill in space. I hope its going to be enough quilting. Then I need to figure out how to quilt the border.

I don't think you're ready to quilt your quilt today. Why don't you just relax and have a cookie and coffee or tea. It's almost too late anyhow. A couple hrs of rest or reading will help your toe.

You made progress today. Just keep taking those baby steps each day and it will be quilted before you know it.

It sounds like you are doing just fine!

I always plan a few extra days of "getting started" activities when I'm working on a large quilt. After mulling over design ideas, drawing them out a lot, and changing them a few times, I like to test my designs on an actual practice sandwich of the same fabrics and thread colors to make sure I really LIKE what it looks like when it's stitched...

Draw your design on just one paper. Stack your 6 papers together, tape the edges here and there and "sew" without thread to mark the design. Then follow the dots to do your quilting. It is so much easier!

Your border would look pretty if you echo around the applique and fill in the rest with stipple or some other filler.

I tried that but my machine is a new one and won't run with out thread. I did put my design all on one long sheet maybe not the best idea ? but I haven't done it this way before
I was thinking about echo quilting the border . I really wanted to keep this as soft as possible so I don't know about the stipple

I woke up this morning thinking about the quilting design. The design I have in mind isn't close enough I need 2-4 inches. So of course I am thinking about how to change it and maybe going with a stencil I have. I REally with I could afford a LAer to do this for me. :/
