Default What to do

I have some black fabric that am going to use in an applique (it is large and the center). I know that sometimes colors will run/drain from certain fabrics how do you keep it looking like it did when you first bought it. I guess it setting the color?

Thanks

Although I have not tried it yet, i bought some 'Color Catcher'. Perhaps you could take a small portion and see how it works before you applique the black fabric.

I have not used it yet but many say to use Sythropol to set the color. OR 1 cup white vinegar and salt in the wash the first time. I'd wash all material separately first, before appliquéing. And I always throw in a color catcher after it's all finished and washed all together for the first time.
