Since it's for your GD I would attach it to the back and stich it down with a frilly decorative stich on the front. :D :D :D

is the quilt going to be used or is it to be put in the cedar chest or hanging on the wall.
The satin ribbon will not wear well. whilt it can be done consider the use of the quilt and possibly select another fabric. The 80/poly 20 cotton Tramode has a silky look and would be more durable. I bought some cotton/silk combination from Keepsake Quilts. I personally would not want to put the silk ribbon on the edge as there is no stretch to it and I would finid it aggrivating to apply well.
