Scalloped border question

You don't attach all the binding completely. I machine sewed the (bias) binding on the front, following the scalloped lines I'd marked earlier. Then I trimmed the excess fabric off, folded the binding to the back, and hand-sewed it.

These are all very good ideas. I am making a dwr quilt and want the arcs of the outside ring to be the edge of the quilt. It is the method by Mary Henderson and Anne Dease that makes the arcs on fusible interfacing and then adheres them to the square back ground blocks. Then you applique the arcs to the blocks. So I would be pressing the blocks to the straight edge of the border, trimming the border and the backing to match. Then I guess I would have to baste the edges together, turning under the edges, then use the applique stitch to finish the edge. Their book shows using a binding on the scallops so that would probably give the best finish. Any easy ideas for this procedure?
