it is definately worth your time to figure out where the scant 1/4" is on your machine. Your blocks will come out much better.
I wouln't worry about scant or not scant. What's more important is that
all your seams match. If you follow Andi's tutorial and check your 1/4"
seam then you are good. I do the 1/4" test before every project and
saves me a lot of hassle. My seams are not always perfect but close enough. :D

It totally makes sense to be consistent with the measurement of all the seams. I never knew the reason for the abaility to adjust the position of the needle until now. Thanks so much for everyone's input!

If a quilting pattern says a 1/4" seam, they mean a scant 1/4"

I just move my needle until I have a scant 1/4 inch.
A lot depends on thread and fabric you use.
