Does anyone use seersucker fabric for quilting? I have a large stash of seersucker from when I used to make baby clothes. I never thought of using it until I came across it while cleaning out my bins. Do you think it would stretch too much? Just a thought. Don't want to let it sit and rot.

I think it would stretch too much...but, if you have nothing to lose, cut out one block and see what happens when you sew it together. That is what I would do.

i have a quilt my great aunt made- she used seersucker in some of the blocks- it is a beautiful quilt- and i do not see any sign that it stretched or looked more difficult to use than any other cotton fabric...as long as the fabric is in fact cotton- i would think it would be just fine...if its real thin you may want to use a stablizer with it.

I used some to make a bow-tie quilt - it made great 3-d bow-ties!

I think it would be darling! I don't think I'd quilt it too close though or the 3D effect of the fabric would be lost.

I would try it for sure. You have nothing to loose if it doesn't work. It would make a nice summer quilt if it works.

I would surely use it. I dont think it would stretch any more than any other fabric. The only thing that I can think of is that ironing it may flatten the little bumps...

Try a block and let us know how it turns out.

Quilters are using minky in quilts and seersucker can't be stretchier than that.

It doesn't stretch if the puckers are woven in. If you use just seersucker in different colors it makes a delightful baby quilt.
...or for that matter a garden flower theme large quilt.
It tends to be lightweight, so use all seersucker if that is the case.
