I used my serger once to sew the seams of piecing the back of my quilt. Never again, I could feel the thick seam through the back of the quilt. Just too bulky in my opinion. Try a sample piece, layer it and see what you think before making a whole quilt.

I have made lots of strip quilts on my serger. They are great for kids and wear very well, of course they are not meant to be heirloom quilts. I use poly batting and they are slighly puffy when finished. It is a quilt as you go method and both sides are done at once.
