I recently posted a pic of a table runner I made without benefit of a pattern. I set the focus blocks on point, and needed setting triangles for the sides of the runner. I had trouble with the triangles not fitting and ended up using squares, and just cutting them in "half" when I squared up the runner. A few people remarked that the bias edges were now going to be tricky......is there a way to cut setting triangles without bias edges? I have never had a problem with them....just wondering if I am missing a better way to cut the triangles? Thank you!

They make very larger acrylic triangles just for that purpose. You can cut the triangle from a very large square cutting like an X thru the square but with the ruler, it lets you cut the setting triangles from a strip. Bought one over 20 years ago and I wouldn't want to live without it. It eliminates the need to do the math !!

Kay England has a Nifty Notions side setting triangle ruler that takes all the math out of creating them. Look on ruler for size of your block. Follow the line across and cut a strip that wide then start cutting triangles from the strip using the ruler. The triangles are slightly oversized so they can be trimmed to exactly fit your quilt.
