Just watched Mary on Quilty make a label. She ironed it on freezer paper, wrote on it and then took the paper off and said to stitch it on the quilt. She didn't turn the edges under. Does the freezer paper make it so the fabric doesn't fray? I've never used it.

Freezer paper give the fabric some stability while writing. To my knowledge it does not add sticky stuff to adhere to anything or keep it from fraying.

I think the freezer paper stabilizes the fabric so it's easier to write on.

If you don't turn the edges under, it will fray. Some people put it in the corner so the binding covers two edges. In that case, those two edges would not need to be turned under.

The reason she ironed the fabric onto freezer paper is because that made the soft fabric stiff and easy to write onto. She had the freezer paper on the underside and wrote on the fabric. She pulled the freezer paper off, after she wrote onto the fabric. However, she didn't show how to attachthe label or turn under the edges or maybe add a fabric border around it,etc. So her method really didn't impress me at all. You could go on Utube and watch quilt label making videos there.
