Under my machine, I have a memory foam bath matt purchased at Big Lots. I love it, and it also works great for a quick pin cushion at the machine. It seems to reduce the vibration of sewing.

At home I have an inexpensive padded door mat (yes the ones to be used at your front or back door) that I put under my machine; but when I go to classes or sew days, I am all about the $1 store shelf liners (or place mats) - they do cut down on noise when the machine is placed on a plastic table. Wish something would cut down on vibrations....
