Sewing Table Question
#2
Perfect sense....when you go shopping you need to know what machine you have. And it wouldn't hurt to have the measurements along too. I have a table that I use with my Bernina. My other machines don't fit correctly in it. There should be something with the sewing desk that tells you what brands of machines will fit.
Let us know what you find. Happy hunting!

Marsye,
Put your machine on a table, stand a ruler on end, on the table in front of the highest part of the sewing arm/bed. That is how deep you want your recess or cavity in the sewing-desk/table top.
As far as the size of the cut-out, 12 inches front-to-back by 18-20 inches left-to-right is about average.
But ask the salesperson to check your machine model to make sure it will fit that sewing table.
I was lucky to find a solid wood breakfast table at a furniture warehouse. I called the Dreamworld company who makes cutouts to fit around your machine arm. http://dreamworld-inc.com/
I used their size recommendations (they were very knowledgeable and helpful) to cut a hole in the table top.
They shipped the cutout while I cut the hole in the table and build a box to hold the machine.
Works great! I will take a picture and post it.

I bought one at JoAnns online. Its on sale now for 129.99. Homespun Cabinet Sewing Table. At their site go up to the search and put in sewing table, it will take you right to it. My machine fits it in fine and I like it.

I bought one that has an adjustable height. I got it from Allbrands.com I never did get an insert that covers all the open space around the machine. I just pull it flush to a corner and it works fine.

I would not trade my table for anything it is a Horn and expensive but if you quilt on your home machine it makes it so easy height is adjustable and they sell inserts for your
