I am not particular. I have aurafil and various other brands. My machines are not fussy and I use a lot of coats & Clark I know it ends up being more expensive but at the rate I quilt it doesn't seem
to hurt my budget.

I prefer polyester thread and use either Superior So Fine #50, Connecting Threads Essential Pro Poly, or occasionally, C&C Dual Duty Plus. The only poly thread I don't care for is Guttermann.

I use vintage machines and they're not at all fussy about thread.

It's not always marked on the thread spool. Usually you can Google a thread and find out more about it that way. Just to make it more confusing, there are different systems for calculating thread weight. Which means that one 60wt thread is not necessarily exactly the same as another 60wt thread.

Google superior threads and watch all the videos about thread. Marvelous information about thread in general.

I am not a thread purist either but usually piece with Aruifil 50wt. in shades of grey. and quilt with different wts. of Superior depending on the project and look I want.
peace

I use Aurifil and Mettler silk-finish cotton. They are both 50 wt. and not as linty.

My machine does not like Sulky, but otherwise I grab what is handy -- including C & C.

I only use Coats & Clark and connecting thread. I have lots of both. My machines will use either one. Good thing because I have used them for years and plan to continue.

I use Star Cotton, Coats Clark 100% Cotton from WalMart, or Guttermann 100% Cotton.
