I use Sewline and like it a lot. Haven't tried the other brand.
You always have to make a test as some colors might not come off on some fabric.
Hasn't been a problem for me as I haven't used it where it will show.

I, too, use Sewline and have not tried any others (F&P or Bohin). I only use the white and grey leads and have had no problems with the markings coming off (I use water, not an eraser, cuz it does less stretching to the fabric). Been using it over 2 years and recommend it often.

I LOVE the Bohin pencil, I use all the different colors, green probably the most, then white or graphite, yellow if I need it. Truth to tell all I used was a mechanical pencil until I used one; now I have about 3.

Just yesterday I went to Keepsake Quilting in New Hampshire looking for a marker to use on a black background quilt. Since F&P own the store now, there was a great selection of their stuff. Someone told me once before those are great markers, but they cost about $15. I bought a different brand for about $3, since I rarely need a white marker.

I have both the Sewline and F&P and I can't tell the difference. I like them both!

I have noticed that it is now hard to find the colored lead, probably because I and others have had trouble getting them to wash out of the quilt. I have both brands and it is so much easier to mark the quilt with them.

I have a Fons & Porter pencil that I refill with Sewline leads (because that's the brand the LQS where I work carries now. They are interchangeable.) I have green, white and pink leads and switch them out, depending on what color fabric I'm marking. We use the Sewline pencil at the shop and carry all colors of leads, plus the separate eraser and refills.
