They can have a huge and loyal customer base and still be absolutely terrible at many aspects of their business, look at Verizon or Microsoft or ATT as examples.

I have never ordered from them but have read many comments about their poor delivery times. They are just well known and have great selection. I order alot online and I would just not put up with slow delivery times like that and not being able to track a purchase.

Thanks everyone, for your input ...
Was just wondering if anyone had similar problems recently - I've always had good experiences previously :?

I've never had problems with them. Knock on wood.

No, but I have had that problem with other businesses. I ordered a recliner from a local furniture store and was told it would be a week to 10 days. After 2 weeks I called them and they said give it a little more time. After 3 weeks I went to the store and demanded to know where my chair was or I was going to cancel. They tracked it to a wharehouse that had been holding it for over 2 weeks. The way they explained it wa that they hold merchandise in the wharehouse until they have a truck going to my area!! Could have been months !! I live in the boonies! The manager of the store actually went to the wharehouse, picked up my chair, and delivered it to me.
Since then I have had it happen 2 more times from different places. VERY aggravating!!!

i believe you when you say you aren't pleased by their service. however, they can't possibly be all those things or they wouldn't have the huge and loyal customer base they have.

a simple "i don't care to shop there again. they don't ship quickly enough to meet my needs." would have been clear enough.

inside voices, please. ;-)
Sorry if you found my frankness and honesty offensive. An opinion was asked and answered. I referenced their "service" as it related to shipping and my personal experiences and offered my personal opinion. I would not have used the strong descriptive language if i did not feel they had earned it on the issue of shipping ... in my ...opinion.

I have ordered from Hancocks of Paducah twice recently, and both times took at least two weeks. One of the times, I ordered from Whittles the same day, and received that package over a week before the Hancocks order. I have gotten some great sales there recently though( 3.98 yd for 30's Feedsack, lalalala, happy dance!!!), and they have such beautiful fabrics. Maybe it was just that I couldn't wait once I had ordered it?! If it weren't for such a great package when it finally arrived, I would have complained more ;)

it's fine to tell the truth if you've had a bad experience with whichever business the conversation is about. that's especially true if a member has asked for opinions.

we just need to remember how many people are watching. it's possible to tell an unpleasant truth without a steaming rant. objective comments that state just the facts are more effective and create a better impression of us as a group. ;-)

Yes, Mom.

I found nothing wrong with Lori's statement. Yes it was a strong statement, but maybe it was a strong opinion based on her experience.

Hancocks is huge. On any given day they could have a hundred or more orders ahead of yours. One person can only fill so many orders in a day. It's not like it's done by robots or something. Actual ladies (just like you) go find your fabric in the store and take it to a cutting table, cut your order and then take all of the bolts back so they're on the shelf for the next order. (That's why all the fabric is shelved by manufacturer in their store.) Then your order has to be packaged, addressed and shipped.

I've also noticed people that don't live in the boonies and aren't used to having virtually everything shipped to them complain a lot about postage costs. Think about just how far that product has to travel to get to you and then figure out how much it actually costs to drive that far. Postage is a major bargain.
