I'm very new to quilting. Our granddaughter is marrying this coming June and, of course, we want to do something special for them. I would ultimately like to make a double wedding ring quilt. As I have thought about it I don't know if she appreciates quilts or not. I asked her once and she didn't know much about them. She has a wonderful singing voice. I have no idea of his interests. We do know he is in seminaryand will become a United Methodist pastor.
I have wondered if placemats or a wall hanging wouild be a possibility. I don't mind giving uncompleted work and seeing the reaction and going from there. I also have some old quilts that came from my Dad's side of the family which I have thought of giving but after reading the experience some have had with giving such gifts I'm not sure. Any ideas you have will be welcomed.
Sorry I took so long--this obviously is an important event and we want our gift to be special.
Thank you.
Esther

Why not ask her whether she would like a unique, one of a kind, custom quilt, made with love by you?
Who could turn down an offer like that? Then you can get her involved - at least a little bit - with pattern choice and colors.

I think a wedding quilt would be so nice. With all the love that goes into it someday or now she will love it.!! Do the quilt. My Granddaughters are 6 and 4 and I am making one now for them. Hopeful I will still be around to see them get married but no ones knows so it will go in my cedar chest till needed.

Not really quilty- but if they are having a ring bearer- maybe make the pillow for them and you can make it personal - the colors of the wedding - or if you embroider put their initials on it
a wall hanging would also be nice , maybe start out with the wall hanging done with the double wedding ring pattern ?

I have a Biblical quilt book with all kinds of patterns Crown of Thorns Jacobs Ladder Rose of Sharon Three Crosses etc. The name of the book is "Creative American Quilting Inspired by the Bible" I bought this book twenty years ago but if you look on line you can probably find it just a thought since he is going to be a minister.
