I am green with envy. I have been searching for an antique sewing machine - either electric or treadle. So far I have not found one in a price that I am willing to pay.

Your son was blessed in his find!

My mom had a featherweight and shortly after her death, my dad remarried. After his 2nd wife died, my dad died. We went through all their things and I found the featherweight. I was so excited except my step-brother said it was his mom's. In the manual it had my mom's name. He insisted it was his mom's and my older brother let him have it. Made me sick. I would love to get one just like it, but can't afford to right now. Maybe someday. Congrats on your find!

Good for you. I love to hear of someone getting a good deal like that. It's just like Christmas, isn't it?

i am not sure where you live, but if able, have you been checking craigslist faithfully in your area and areas you're willing to drive to? there seems to be so many where i live $100 or less. good luck with your search. these old ladies are out there just waiting for a new home.
