HSN did a big premier on this new Singer this past week. A limited number were to be sold and now it will not be available in the stores until next year. Was wondering if anyone bought this machine. Sounds like a really nice machine and Singer finally came out with a larger hoop for the embroidery features. This machine does embroidery/sewing/quilting and serging. I was looking for a machine that I could do FMQ with the start/stop button and no foot pedal and this one has this function. Has a nice large machine bed and the speed control I was looking for. Wasn't really looking for another embroidery machine but this machine has a 6 by 10 inch hoop and for the money I could not resist. Can't wait for the UPS fella to hit my driveway!! Anyway, was just wondering if anyone else in the group perhaps got in on purchasing this machine. :)

I purchased the previous model and because of my issues with it I was a little leary I cannot wait so see how you like yours!

I did, too!! Because of the hoop size!! All the rest is just gravy, I'll be using it as a dedicated emb machine.....unless something happens to my main and back-up machines :roll: :roll:
It says that I should receive it by the first, but I think it will be here Friday!!! Can hardly wait!!!

I bought one of these and I'm wondering how are you're doing with your machine?

I have to say for me that so far so good. I haven't had any problems with using it for either sewing or embroidering.
I had the SES2000 for a while, it was my first embroidery machine. Had a lot of error messages, but eventually learned a few tricks that eliminated most of them.
I eventually returned it because it was acting up and bought a Pfaff 4.0 thinking the problems would be eliminated. Not so, it really isn't designed very well for piecing and has it own set of issues when doing embroidery.
In retrospect have to admit many of the problems I had with the Singer were due to my learning curve.
I started looking to buy a used Singer and then saw the Quartet on sale and bought.
I really like the way it sews and it doesn't eat my fabric the way the Pfaff can. Also, out of the three machine I have the least amount of trouble on this one when stitching out an embroidery designs.
The only error messages I get are if the thread breaks. I find that using a thread stand works better than the spools on the machine.
Although I don't get to used it as much as I would like to, the time spent with it is fun and not at all frustrating.

Be sure an keep your boxes. Know of people having a lot of trouble with them. The price went up on it $100.00 just a week before it aired. I have the 150 and have nothing but trouble with it took it to a singer dealer and they would not honor the war. They had no ideal how to fix it and charged me $85.00 to tell me they had no ideal what was wrong with it. I brought it home in a 1000 pieces and in a plastic bag. I cried for days. lol Got a brother an it started acting up so sent it back now just looking for a new one.

Not a good idea to take the Singer Futura Embroidery machines to a dealer. They are not experienced enough to work on these machines. I boxed mine up and shipped it to Singer in Tennessee and they worked on it and fixed it right up and working great. I didn't have to pay for anything except shipping it to them. No charge for repair and they shipped it back to me their cost. I love my Quartet although iit is the one I did have to send to Tennessee. The first batch of machines had a problem but they are making it good and fix them. I have talked with several people on the Futura Quartet forum on yahoo that had theirs fixed and have not had any problems since. I am so looking forward to getting mine back and do not regret my purchase at all. I also have the CE250 and have not had any problems with it and it is more than 4 yrs old now. The only reason I bought the new one was I wanted a bigger hoop. My 250 only has a 5 x 7 is the largest hoop but i have really enjoyed that machine over the years and have done alot with it. I am relatively new with sewing/embroidery. I had a Singer XL1000 prior to buying the quartet. I have A LOT of trouble with thread breaking while embroidering with the Futura 4 that I did not have with the XL1000. I have never been able to use the E thread tension setting--always have to go lower but still have trouble with breakage. Any tippers for a newbie? Also, being a novice I don't even know that I would know if my machine had one of the original "mess ups" referred to above. What were they? Thanks for any advice/help. On the days I get it right I do a dance. On the days I get it wrong, I curse the machine--but it's all really fun:)
