Singer Quantum L-500 - does anyone have this machine?

I was wondering if anyone has the Singer Quantum? If so, do you like it or don't you like it, why....? Enquiry mind wants to know.
I just ordered it from HSN yesterday because it was on sale. Apparently it is a conglomeration between the Janome 6600 and the Babylock Quest Plus. The reviews are split. People seem to love it or hate it but nobody feels ho-humm about it.
I figured that I would give it a run through all the features and see if we are more compatible than me and Pfaffy. If it doesn't meet my expectations, I can return it.
Now I have to be patient - - - tapping finger on table top already. Those will be long 10 days. lol

umm. i ordered it months ago when it was a todays special value. I got it home, plugged it in and sent in back in 2 days. I didnt like the way it sewed, was really loud and not a smooth machine.

I figured with the return policy I couldn't go wrong. AND if I don't like it, I get to figure out which features I absolutely need. IF I need to get a different machine, it will help me decide on a Janome versus a Babylock because neither of the machines I looked at have ALL the features I think I want.

For the $200 difference I'd get the Janome 6600. I know I've praised this machine since I got it, but it deserves it. Its made with ball bearings which are not going to wear out like the bush and castings. Took hubby to ask questions on mechanical stuff and this is the machine that he liked. I paid $1049 for my 6600. Think about it.

why not check out Viking? the Sapphire 870 is pretty awesome for quilters, the 835 is more affordable. I didnt like the 6600 either, and the janome 7700 looks too meaty for me, i looked at viking and glad I did.

I have been very pleased with my Quantum L500!
I LOVE the built-in walking foot. Have yet to install the foot pedal....just push the 'go' button and off it goes...at any consistant speed!! Needle up/down is great!
It will get loud IF the bobbin is not in 'right'...or... if there is a build up of 'fuzz' in the (where the top thread runs from the spool to the needle)...old age is making the correct word escape me!
I sew much better with this machine than I ever have---straight lines, even 1/4 in.....
And the distance from the needle to throat is awesome! Lots of room!

Janome has a built in walking foot. Lever is in back and you just snap on the foot. I didn't think I would like the top bobbin, but I actually do. I can see my bobbin thread dwindling down and have only run out of thread once.
