I like my SITD foot, maybe because my machine is a Janome. It helps by patting down the batting and making the stitching easier. It could be used for about anything, it helps keep that straight line that we need.

I love my SITD foot. Frankly I think it's a question of getting used to it
and finding the right "spot". I find if I go too fast I go in and out of the ditch
but if I slow down it works better. Also, taking breaks help. :-D

the SITD is one of those feet that quilters either love or don't.

for most of us, it takes practice to really get in the groove with it. (pun intended. )

do you know anybody who has one you can test drive?

I have the SID attachments for all of my machines. I really like the way they make my seams look after stitching. I have a lot more precision when I use them. I wouldn't even try to do it without the attachment now that I have gotten used to using them.

I really like my SITD foot. Because they can be pricey I checked ebay and found one to fit my machine at a very reasonable price. The seller has great prices on all sorts of things for quilters and wonderful customer service.

I have a question - Does stitch in the ditch mean you actually sew IN the seam or 1/4 on either side - and if it's on either side - which side do you use Left or Right or is it 1/4 inch on both sides???

I have one yes it works but sometimes you need a walking foot even to do stitch in the ditch

Tally Kathy, SITD is stitching exactly in the ditch on the seam. Done correctly, I like the looks of it. I want to mix it with FMQ on the quilt on the machines right now.
