I just got back from the fabric store and wanted to share my experience. We read so much about poor customer service that I wanted to post something positive. I was shopping for backing. As the fabric was measured the clerk noticed it had a spot that was soiled. She thought it would probably wash out and I did too. I needed 8 yards. There were 8-1/4 left on the bolt. She gave me all of it and charged me for 7. Plus I had a 40% off coupon. So I got 8-1/4 yards of batik fabric for $42.00. This will really help keep down my expenses for this quilt.

Wow, that was very nice of them! At the Hancock near me, they will charge you for every thread. I have brought bolts of fabric to the table to be cut, and there may be an inch or less left beyond what I wanted. They will ask if you want it and if you do, they will charge for it. If not, they cut the tiny strip off and trash it. Maybe it is different regional managers that cause such differences.

So good to hear that you were treated well. I know a clerk can make my day or ruin it. Today I had a really nice person to help me at JoAnns. I want to hug those who are so helpful and sweet.[but of course I don't]

In the Daytona Beach, FL area our JoAnn's and our Hancocks are both great. They're both under staffed, so you have to wait, but they're always willing to help.
