I actually started with four" squares. My husband cut me a smaller twister tool that measures 2 3/4" square. (He used a plastic picture frame that cost about $2 at Wal-Mart. He scored the lines and filled with permanent black ink. It works just fine except it is thin plastic and I was worried rotary cutter would damage it. We put little sandpaper-like dots on back to keep it from slipping when cutting and also to make sure I cut with the right side up!) It would be easy to make with 5" blocks.

A really cute tree, I like your diagonal placement of the colors.

Beautiful! What size is the square after cutting with the twister tool?

When you cut the twists do you have to cut all the white squares too and sew them back together ??
