I have a cheap brother that I use for fre motion quilting. I had the same trouble with it on the last quilt I was working on. I didn't have any of the "washers" to try. I cut out a piece of notebook paper the same size as my bobbin and put that in the case before adding the bobbin. It worked for me. But my brother is not a drop in bobbin. So I am not sure how it would work for you. Good luck with your machine. Don't give up. Just take a breath and have patience that you can get it working.

When you go to make sure it's alright - take your dealer up on the class. Since it's so far for you to go, it might save on gas & time.

As it turned out, nothing was wrong with my machine nor my threading/bobbin loading technique. It was simply the brand of thread I was using. I traditionally use the Gutermann brand but ran out in the middle of a project. I had a comparable color in the Coats & Clark line so I used that. My machine did not perform well at all and I had a huge rat's nest on the bottom of the fabric, the tension messed up and the automatic thread cutter locked up. The experts at the shop asked what type of thread I use, and suggested that the brand might be the issue. We took out the C&C, got out another color of the Gutermann to try and the machine purred again. Strange, but true story! If you've tried all of the other options you've mentioned, plus this one, and still no luck then take it back to see if they will exchange the machine for you. Best of luck to you!
My Pfaff messes up with other thread than C&C...It sometimes dumps the thread and then makes a clump on the back...some of the bobbins I have (they look like the ones that work) will not work. When I pull the thread the bobbin sticks and won't turn in the case..seems they are bent ... sometimes changing the needle does the trick.. if lint is built up it will throw it off..Hope you find the answer!!

I am so glad I found this! I have been working on placemats for Thanksgiving all day and just a few minutes ago, they thread started bunching. I changed bobbins, and it is much better. Awesome advice!

I had a similar frustration - bobbin - make sure your bobbin is facing the right way when you thread it the logo must be on top and again when you put it in the bobbin case - good luck!!
