I am adding my boarders to my quilt, first went fine and time to add the second and the store shorted me enough that I cant make another 6.5 in cut. The store doesnt have any more, I ck'd.

I fudged and it will work only if instead of adding my sides then top, bottom I do it in the reverse which make the corners wrong and hopefully not too strange.

I just had to vent because I am so upset right now GRRRRRR !

Post a picture of the fabric here. Maybe someone has some or can find some for you.

I generally alternate like that as it helps keep it squared. So don't feel so bad, it will be fine.

Sally Collins is my mentor in Miniatures, she says in a situation like yours, it challenges her to change courses and find a new fabric.....it turns out better that way.
I had it happen to me once...it was OK but really different than my original plan.

Sorry this happened to you but once your quilt is quilted I bet you won't even notice the change. You won't be the first to make an adjustment like this. Just a little frustrating right now.

Can you add corner blocks?

I think that most people would not realize that you had to do it the "wrong way". Go ahead and do it the way you have to, so you have enough fabric.

Sometimes just adding corner stones in the corners give you just enough for what you need on the borders.
I always measure what I have left and then plan the width of my borders according to how much yardage is left. No one will know your quilt is supposed to have 6.5 in borders and you only use 5.5 inches.
