Hi! I've been reading this board for awhile now, but this is my first post.
I want to make a softball quilt for my daughter but can't find anything on the web. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I have heard of a snowball quilt pattern. Is this what you want? Or do you really want it to look like softballs?

I'm not really sure - I thought about trying to make the center of the quilt look like a softball field (the bases, pitcher's mound, etc.) with softball related blocks surrounding it, but I can't find any softball related blocks to look at.
I'm open to any and all ideas!

Thanks!

You could start out with a green diamond...applique on the outlines of the base lines in brown for the dirt, white bags on the bases and pitchers mound... Maybe applique softballs, mitts and bats in the surrounding blocks. You can find these in free coloring pages online.
You could quilt in the borders different words like: Strike one, two three.... Your outta here....foul ball....strike out...the bases are loaded, etc...

Here are some sports quilt patterns that might be adaptable:

Also, try doing a search on baseball quilts at Google Images. Quite a few pictures come up on that and might give you some ideas.

Thanks for the ideas! I'm a really new quilter and don't have a lot of confidence in my ability to create applique from coloring pages, but nothing ventured nothing gained.
I never would have thought about quilting the words in the borders - what an awesome idea!

I looked at the website - the baseball quilt is really cute. I need to order that.
Now I'm off the search google for baseball quilts!
Thanks!

That's what I thought you wanted too.

I didn't explain it well at first. Sorry!

My 13 year old lives for softball. She plays on a tournament/travel team and practices about 12 hours a week year round. During "the season" (translation - every month but December, January and February) they play in tournaments 2-3 weekends a month.
I think a quilt devoted to softball would be one she'd really use! I just doubt my ability to design and construct one so I was hoping someone here had seen one I could work from. Luckily Amma and Prism99 gave me a place to start.
Thanks again!

If you scroll down to shaveberg's picture, it is a perfect square in a square that emulates a sporting field. Check it out and see if it works for you.
