Default Sold my brand new long arm machine...kinda sad.

Yesterday I sent my brand new LA machine to LA. I have had it for 2 years and it's sat in my garage all that time. I had no place to put it up. My husband didn't want to take down the dining room table and put up the LA table in its place, so there it sat. On a thread, I jokingly said, does anyone want to buy a longarm table? lol...and I had quite a few askers. The first one I offered it to her for what I bought it for...$500. I'm so happy for her. She's so excited to get it. But, I'm a little sad. I never did have the desire to quilt, but after she and I made the agreement, my husband said I could put it up in the dining room. Dang him!! I already promised it to her and I wouldn't go back on my word for anything. I need you gals to remind me that I didn't have the desire to quilt and it would have sat in my garage forever and I sent it to someone who really wants it and is so happy to get it. I am so happy for her. I just need to know that it I would never have used it.

Guess it is like all the stuff we all saved and say that "someday I'll need it" but still 19 years later we still don't need it so why haven't we gotten rid of it? You did the right thing. Use the money for more fabric or something you know you'll really use.

If we aren't going to use something, we need to give, give. The other person will reallly love it and love you for selling it to her. You are very kind.

I truly believe things happen for a reason. Take the $$ and do something special with it to take the away the sting of the loss. In hindsight, would you really want it set up in your dining room at all times and if it was just sitting in the garage........

Bless you and have a cup of coffee or tea and get out the magazines ---- check out all the lovely projects and then go to the local phone book and see who you can have stitch your next finished project. LOL Get to know the people who LA in your area ---n oh yeah, keep in touch with the person who got your stuff and when she is going well with it, hire her to quilt your tops. LOL Coffee and a nice chocolate brownie will get you through the moment.

pining over what might have been is a waste of time. Use the money to do what you know you want to do. Consider it a new start, and one less thing weighing on your mind ;-)

If you are going to be a long arm quilter designing the quilting needs to be your favorite part. Even though I enjoy piecing as well as quilting for clients, before I even start the top I am thinking about how I will quilt it. I am computerized with Intelliquilter. One of my favorite things to do is browse digital designs on my iPad and imagine the types of quilts they would look good on. If none of these things are true for you then you did the right thing for you and made someone else happy at the same time. You made your decision, now free yourself from second guessing and go enjoy whatever you like most about quilting.

Remember too that you can still do FMQ so it isn't like you will never quilt again. You can have fun and relax now with small projects that you FMQ yourself, and remove the stress of the big quilts by sending them out. And your dfining room STAYS a dining room!!

I do understand this. I used to be into scrapbooking, and had so much stuff I'd never use anymore. So I sold it to my neighbor at a huge loss. Thats ok,though, I'd rather do that to see it get used and make someone happy.

Sometimes we move on, and thats ok.

Just to be on the safe side, anyone else in jcrow's position, I'd be happy to help! LOL! I'd give my right arm to find one cheap!
