What about the very quick table runner, I call it the 30 minute, because it takes about that long with cutting etc., but I think the correct name is the 10 minute runner. - Choose two fabrics, both the length you want the runner to be, cut one of the 2 lengths 12" wide, the other one 18" wide. Sew these two pieces right sides together, in a tube, down each long side , (naturally one piece will be wider(, making a non sewer think this won't work. Next turn tube inside outand press so that the 18" piece will make a border on each side be sure each side is even all the way down. Then fold the piece with the 12" top part to the inside of the fold, sew straight across each end. turn the ends out, and you have the point, walla a neat and quick table runner.

There is always the 10 minute taable runners. If doing with a group and giving instructions they take about half an hours

What about simple ideas for no-sewers at a retreat where they won't have sewing machines available. My guild hosts a class at a retreat for caretakers of special needs children and adults. We need to bring everything to the "camp" and have it simple enough for non-sewers to do in an afternoon. So far I think the above posts seem to involve sewing machines.

a friend showed me her 20 year old casserole carried made very simply from a pretty kitchen towel. Her's is not insulated, but I made a couple and lined with Insulbrite. Simply fold the ends of the towel toward the middle. Sew the edges. Add a casing to the ends of the towel and run cord thru it. Actually, add the casing first!

I'm sorry, but I'm a bit miffed that everything from our hands must be donated to some cause. Don't we owe it to ourselves to do something for US once in a while? These women are going to be at a retreat. Why can't they make a reminder of a great weekend without being made to feel they are not generous to others?

Lord, knows I donate tons of stuff. But once in a while, I sew for me!
