Sometimes life hands us pleasant surprise
I got a letter from my older sister today and enclosed was a check for 635.00. Wow, talk about a pleasant surprise. We thought when we put our mother in a nursing home 2 years ago, 2 of her life insurance policies were canceled. Turns out the one made out to my younger sister & me was canceled, but one made out to my older sister and brother was not canceled. When they found that out, they decided to share with me and younger sis. Guess what I am using the money for???, no not fabric. I will use some for paint for my new quilting studio, storage units, ect and the rest will go into my "someday I will buy and new sewing machine" fund. I am so happy. Nice to know one nice thing came out of loosing our mom.

wow, what a great surprise. So nice of your sibling to share. My gp are in an assisted living home and my mom and aunties can't agree on anything. I hate to see what happens when my gp's are no longer with us.

When my mom's estate was settled there was a small cash settlement for me and my sister to split. I used my share to buy my Bernina, which I couldn't have afforded otherwise. I think of my mom often while I sew; she made my clothes when I was young and I learned a lot from her, and knowing that she helped me buy my sewing machine is a comfort.

What a pleasant surprise for you and how nice your siblings would share when they didn't have to. 5 of the 7 in my family would get along and 2 would fight about why they didn't get 10 cents more or why a certain person wrote the check out. Enjoy!
