Hey. folks.
Does anyone have any idea how to sew sequins onto a quilted wall hanging? The idea came to me in a dream (doesn't everyone dream about quilting?). It seems intriguing, but I'm sure of the technical aspects; sew the little things on while quilting, or later. HELP!

I haven't done it yet, but the embellishment book I have (by Rose Hughes) says to do the embellishment after the regular quilting. For sequins, bury the knot, come up where you want the sequin to be, then go thru' a small seed bead to hold it in place, and back down thru' the sequin & on to the next one. I can't remember what thread she recommended, if it was special beading thread or ??
Hope this helps! :D

I've done individual ones by hand in a similar manner as described, only with a french knot instead of beads. I've seen wedding gowns where they were just glued on. I imagine a washing machine would shake them loose though.

I have sewn with sequins, quiet abit. All I've done is only by hand, I've used the seed bead way . But when I want just sequins, I off-set each sequin, so once I sew down the first sequin, I come right under it and, bring up my needle and get the next sequin, there fore the sequin covers up the stitching from the last sequin layed. I do all my bead and sequin work, on my piece, and or quilt top before I quilt it. NO I did'nt read a book, thats just the way I do it.

The general rule about timing for sequins (and beads) is before quilting if you hand quilt and after quilting if you machine quilt. Where you plan to attach them can obviously make the general rule null and void! :D

This would really make a beautiful wall hanging, won't it? Please share pictures! You've just inspired me with a way to "help" my poor little Charlie Brown tree...
