Split Nine Patch
#1
Hi Everyone
I am looking for a quilt pattern. I'm not sure if I saw it on this site or not.
It is a "split" nine patch. You sew up a nine patch block and then cut it twice. Once vertically and then horizontally. After a "shuffle" of the blocks, you sew them back together.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Do you have the pattern?
Thanks in advance,
Bonnie

The split 9 patch I've seen is divided on the diagonal, but had a solid square in the center of a different color to both halves. Along the diagonal were half square triangles then solids in the corners...does that make sense? Then the layout was done with traditional log cabin arrangements...zig zag, diagonal rows, nested squares. Seems like cutting the 9 patch in quarters would distort the inside squares.

I'm glad you found it for her Judy. I forgot that it was titled "disappearing 9-patch" instead of "split 9-patch" (which I found out is actually a totally different way of cutting and arranging 9-patches), and I was getting nowhere fast. Who knew you could do so much with a simple 9-patch? :D

Thanks for the tip!
I had a concern that unless I started the original block a bit larger, that it would be pretty small once it was cut and then put together into the quilt top.
