I decided to try spray basting a quilt - but seemed to have trouble with the BSR skipping a lot of stitches. Has anyone else had this problem? I used Sullivan's brand baste spray..tried changing the needle and rethreading the machine but continued to have trouble.

I have used spray baste with the BSR and have had no problems. Does your BSR need an update?

I've had my BSR foot upgraded to the heavy duty spring, and regardless, it does not like quilting over fusibles or basting. Not that I use it much, it makes me insane when it skips stitches.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a 440 and will check to see if I need an update. I've had no trouble at all with it - but for some reason I don't think it liked the basting spray.

I just had the same problem and took my BSR to my quilt shop where I bought my Bernina 820. She showed me again how to get set up and let me practice and I did great. She then asked if I was using basting spray. I actually had used it on the small sample quilt I was practicing on. So, I came home and made a new sample quilt and it worked great. She explained that many people have this problem and you can try a very light adhesive spray, but you just may not be able to...so I guess we are back to pinning!

Oh, sorry...A BSR is a Bernina Stitch Regulator.

The spray Basting has nothing to do with the foot skipping. It is another issue.
