has anyone ever used a spring needle for quilting? does it work OK? any advantage over fmq presser foot?

I have one but i haven't used it in years.I might have to see if i can find it and give it a try.

I have two feet for FMQ, one has a spring and one doesn't. I prefer the one with the spring :D:D:D

Great question. I have both but I've never used the one with the spring. Can you tell us what is the advantage or difference??
(This from the Non-FMQer!! I'll try anything that might help-thanks)

I have one but don't like FMQ on a sewing machine so never used it...

I have one---came with my new machine--but have NO idea how to use it!!!

Got one or two Guess one of those things thought would use but haven't.. also am to new to this site to understand all the initials whats FMQ?

fmq free motion quilting.
I have seen only the spring darning feet. well at least for my machine. i never knew they came without a spring. hehe.
