My sewing machine is making a loud squeaking sound. I have already took it apart and oiled it, but the squeaking still is there. I did use sewing machine oil. I cannot afford to take it to a repair person.

can you identify what is squeeking? is it the hand-wheel? is it the arm that raises/lowers the needle?
if you can identify where the squeek is coming from someone may have a suggestion---also---what machine it is? brand/model?
you may need to call the customer service 800# and speak to a tech- but having all of the above information handy when you make the call will help the tech figure out the problem-and possibly give you an answer

Be careful, for machine oil goes bad. You might have put some bad oil on the machine. Check or better yet, go to the store and buy sewing machine oil. They come in small packages because they don't last very long. I think it's 6 or 8 months maybe less. I hope this helps.

Mine was making a squeaking noise and I took off the bottom and cleaned all the dust, etc out. There is a "U Cam" that was full of black gunk (looked like dried oil) on the cam. When I turned the wheel, it would make the noise as it got to a certain point. Check your machine and see if that is the problem. You then should CONTACT A REPAIR PERSON and see if he can recommend the right oil and cleaning solution. Do not try to just use something around the house as you might ruin it. (Mine machine was not that expensive to lose if it didn't work) Think the cam rubbed against plastic or rubber, so you need the right solution or it will do damage to the part. Some parts use oil and some grease, for a reason!

What brand of machine? My treadle belt makes a squeaking sound when it gets too dry. A moist facecloth run down the leather belt usually fixes it. My walking foot on my Bernina squeaks but a little machine oil usually fixes that. Some computer machines are not to be oiled so it's hard to suggest a solution.

If the machine oil is still clear, no color, it's okay. Any hint of yellow or brown use it to oil door hinges.

really..at the repair shop we have some that is 30+ years old..works fine!
