What is the name of the stuff that takes the stain/dye out of a quilt and can it be used for clothing also?

    Thanks in advance. Edie

I use Oxy Clean for sure on clothes. Have had amazing results. I soak for up to two weeks, long time stains dissapear and colors aren't affected.

This was a discussion on another recent thread..... you might try the search feature at the top of the page. If I remember correctly, more than one person suggested a product called Awesome, a stain remover sold at Dollar Stores. Good luck.

Synthropol(sp) to suspend the loose dyes in fabric?

Synthrapol suspends unset dye particles in water so they rinse away instead of settling into fabric. Once a bleed has already occurred, it can require multiple washings in Synthrapol to get it all out. If the bleed has been heat set, it might not all come out.

Synthrapol doesn't work on other types of stains -- only dye bleeds. And it is best used to prevent bleeds, although is often effective also in getting rid of a bleed.
