Default Starch and Bug?

Has any one heard that if you don't wash quilt or scraps after using starch it will attract bugs?

Yes, it's been discussed on here several times and the opinions go both ways. My Granny and Mom both used starch and I don't recall every seeing bugs get into them.

From the research I did on-line these kinds of bugs love humidity. We have very low humidity, so I don't worry about them.

What I heard is that it is silverfish that eat starch. They also like to eat books. Surprised they're not everywhere in my house.

Heard it, never had a problem even when I lived in the state of New York where it is damp..... Been doing it for 25 years. I have more problems with moths and wool.

If you have a bug problem then starch may attract them to your fabric or clothing. I doubt starch will draw the bugs to your house if they aren't already there.

When I was a kid, I remember my grandmother making embroidred doiles, pillow cases, table clothes...etc. She heavily starched them and I can't remember her ever having any bugs

I've heard the theory, but I believe that if you don't have a problem with silverfish or other bugs BEFORE you starch, I don't see that you'll have a problem AFTER you starch. I starch and have never had a problem.
