Default It started out being a good day fmq

Decided today on a feather pattern for a 5" border.....drew the middle line and started fmq the feather, doing just one side first.....got first side all done and it looks great .....took a small break to rest the hands, then started the second side.....got it all done, then flipped it over and discovered that the tension changed....must have accidentally moved the dial moving the quilt.....now the bobbin thread is loose, basically laying on on the backside with the top thread visible.....the question now is will washing help pull the bobbin thread through the quilt, or am I gonna have to rip all of the stitching out?.....something I really don't want to do, but will if necessary.........am so frustrated....it was all going so well, some of my best fmq ever....now to discover that it isn't good at all on the backside.

Sounds to me like you should fix it. Unless it's for you and doesn't bother you. I would fix it IMHO One thing is, it will be easy to take out since it is loose. Consider it a learning experience. We have all been there.

Well, the up side is when this happens, it just takes a tug to remove all the stitching. This is really why you want to redo it. Although washng the finished quilt (assuming that you used cotton batting)will draw it up somewhat, it won't be nearly enough to compensate and you will run the risk of your quilting coming loose.

I would take it out and fix it too. I don't think washing will help at all.

Well I have learned better take it out when you find it. And do it right cause your name is on it. As much as I don't want to take anything out me and the seam ripper is your best friend.

I have seen that on a couple of my quilts, caused by the top thread coming out of a space. I took it out and redid it. I don't put my name on my quilts. If I'm not pleased with my quilts, I fix them.

Sorry this happened. I'm like you and can't stand ripping out but unfortunately I believe you need to.
